Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology

About the Department

The faculty in the Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology has been consistently tackling hard questions and then raising the bar further by continuing to ask difficult questions. Research topics in the department include exciting areas such as herpesviruses, antibiotic resistance, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), emerging viral pathogens, influenza, allergy, autoimmune diseases, vaccine development, immunotherapy, cancer and more.

The department’s research studies, in collaborations with clinicians and the larger academic community, are meant to understand pathogens, their hosts and mechanisms of disease – all in the hope of curing or treating ailments. Every day, our researchers are amazed and enthused by the paths down which their research takes them.
